Find hope.

Feel relief.

Hey there, I’m Susette.

I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Private Practice. I want to help you experience lasting peace inside of you and in your relationships. Let’s figure out how to make some peace together.

What to Expect

Finding the right therapist is an overwhelming, confusing process. Beginning can be scary.

Here’s some information on how this goes with my therapy practice.

Consultation Call

Our first call will be 15 minutes long. We talk about the reason you’re pursuing therapy, and whether we’re a good fit for each other. Be honest with yourself and me about your expectations around time, desire to heal, and finances.

We will schedule our first session during this time.

First Session (Intake)

In our first session, we’ll begin the process of building trust. You can explore whether you process emotion through talking, gaining insight, learning theory, or practicing skills. Many clients like a combination of these things.

We’ll find a rhythm that works for you to begin the healing process. In couples and family sessions, we may meet with each family member separately.

Gathering Your History

During the beginning of therapy (the first few sessions), we gather a history of your experiences and relationships that describe your identity and needs.

We’ll talk about strengths, fears, and your past with mental health treatment. We also look at traumatic experiences, but you tell me the details of your story at your pace.

Setting Goals

Goals are set and evaluated throughout therapy. Some clients just want a place to talk and process — which is very valuable.

But you need to know where you’re going. Goals help you to know you’re making progress. Setting goals for improving symptoms, changing relationships, and showing general improvement to mental health helps us to understand how therapy is helping.

Checking in about goals is something that happens throughout our therapy work.
